Welcome Friends and Neighbors!

Thank you for taking the time to be informed voters and researching more about the candidates running for office. Hopefully this will share a little more about who I am and why I am again asking for your support.

Why I’m running for election to the Spokane Valley City Council, Position #4

Spokane Valley is and has always been a great place to live, work, play, and raise our families. My family and I are a testament to that having 5 generations living or lived in the Spokane Valley area.

We are a community of honest, hardworking, individuals that come together to take care of each other and do what needs to be done. We don’t need, nor want, a lot of government interference, but a better life for our children. Better job opportunities, safer neighborhoods, and have the ability to stay here to raise their families.

I don’t believe that our current City Council represents that ideal. In the last year they have changed the direction of our city by changing the leadership but gave no explanation or insight into which direction they wanted to go. Three honest, hardworking people lost their jobs costing the tax payers over $500,000 in severence packages (paying them more than their employment agreements called for) to leave quietly and keep information out of the public.

Infrastructure is a large responsibility of government and our city has been struggling with how to prevent our streets from deteriorating beyond repair. We need to prioritize our existing tax money to better fund our street maintenance / preservation programs. When our current city leadership came up with a plan (a 6% Utility Tax on electricity, water, natural gas, solid waste, and internet usage) they tried to fast track its approval instead of being open and honest with the public. The public outcry was heard loud and clear however now the city council chooses to ignore the issue completely, at the June City Council Budget retreat street maintenance or preservation wasn't even an agenda item nor was it brought up when considering what to do with the $2.2 to $2.4 million in extra revenue projected for 2018. We deserve better.

I am a lifelong Spokane Valley resident, business owner, and father of three wonderful little girls. I am invested in our community, I want to see things get better. While I have had the privilege to serve you on the city council recently from 2012 through 2015, I don’t believe in career politicians, but in community servants. I have the desire to serve and track record to show that I am honest and use commonsense when making decisions.

Together we can make a difference, together we can take back our community and make the City of Spokane Valley a place to be proud of again! If you believe the same things then I need your help. I am willing to dedicate the time and work hard for you as your city councilmember but I need your help getting there. If you can spare even a single dollar to help spread the word, it would help; if you are willing spend even one weekend of time volunteering for the campaign, it would help; or if you are willing to stand up, pledge your support and list your name next to mine as a supporter for your friends and neighbors to see, it would help.
